When we read Dante's Inferno in 10th grade, my English teacher suggested our school should put up a sign that says "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here" at the school's entrance to intimidate the visiting football teams. It never came to be...
Alas, it would be a good addition to a school for visiting teams. In Reader's Digest, one reported that it appeared over the entrance of a university library.
